A terracotta sculpture depicting a trumpeting elephant, with its trunk curled upward and its mouth open. This dynamic piece captures the animal in motion, conveying a powerful sense of movement and vitality. Its surface is achieved through the traditional engobe technique, in which successive layers of liquid clay are poured over the terracotta body before firing.
Collection: Animal Sculptures
Italian Title: Scultura Elefante
One-of-a-kind piece. Handcrafted in Caronia, Sicily by Maestro Filadelfio Todaro. Once sold, this exact piece will not be remade.
This piece is handmade stoneware or terracotta, fired and glazed by the artist - small variations in glaze, texture, and form are part of each one-of-a-kind piece, not a flaw. Dust with a soft dry cloth; if the piece is glazed and safe to hold water, empty and dry it fully between uses rather than leaving water standing. Avoid sudden temperature changes and dishwasher/microwave use.
